Located in Chiayi County, Taiwan, Alishan National Forest Recreation Area is a scenic paradise spanning over 41,000 hectares (101,272 acres) that attracts nature enthusiasts and travelers from around the world. The area is situated in the central mountain range and is renowned for its breathtaking views, particularly its renowned sunrise and sunset vistas over the mountains and seas of clouds. The forest is home to diverse ecosystems, including ancient cypress trees, bamboo groves, and vibrant wildflowers, offering a haven for thousands of plant species and an array of wildlife. Historically, the area has been a significant cultural landmark for the indigenous Tsou people, and its steam railway, constructed during the Japanese colonial period, is considered an engineering marvel.
